What is it?
Most businesses have significant assets that would be at risk if a substantial lawsuit is brought against the business. A Commercial Umbrella Policy provides additional liability coverage, above and beyond your underlying policy limits, giving you the peace of mind that your business assets will be protected.
If the coverage on your underlying policy has been exhausted, a Commercial Umbrella Policy will extend to cover:
- Legal fees
- Medical bills
- Property damage expenses
How does it work?

- A Commercial Umbrella Policy is generally is written over various primary liability policies, such as the Commercial Auto Policy, Commercial General Liability (CGL) Policy, Watercraft and Aircraft Liability Policies, and Employers Liability Coverage.
- If a lawsuit is brought against your business and your underlying liability limits have been exhausted, your Commercial Umbrella Policy will step in to pay the legal expenses and judgements against you.
